In the early 90's Nissan announced the
Figaro, a retro styling exercise from the Pike styling studios.
Based on tried and tested March (Micra) mechanicals, the Figaro uniquely combined 50's styling
underpinned by contemporary technology. For example the art deco styled radio
actually houses a state of the art (for 1991) AM/FM radio and single CD player.
With a one litre turbo charged engine and three speed automatic gearbox it was,
and perhaps still is, the perfect town car for the individualist.
The intended production run of the Figaro was only 20,000 units, but the concept
was such an instant hit with the Japanese public that Nissan were forced to
devise a lottery to determine the lucky owners.
It is our view that, bearing in mind the very limited production run, the
Figaro shows all the signs of becoming a modern classic. Over the last year or
so prices of good original examples in Japan have steadily increased and we can
only see this trend continuing.

The colour rendition is not brilliant but it's good enough to get an idea of the
four paint finishes available.

The
pastel green is known as Emerald and the baby blue is called Pale Aqua

Topaz Mist is Nissan's very poetic way of
describing beige, whilst Lapis Grey is a sort of purple/ shiny primer colour
